                                                           Graduations in Peru

                                        by Tomas A. Parillo

Dear brothers, let me give cordial greetings to each one of you, and I hope that, by the grace of God, you are all in good health. I am very grateful for all the effort to support missionary work in Peru, and the seed we are sowing is yielding very good results with God’s help. In this report, I want to briefly explain the events carried out during this end of year, 2021.

First, by the grace of God we have managed to get a good group of students to successfully finish the classes of the “Global School of Missions,” as we have called it since 2020. So, we have achieved 4 graduating students in Lima and 10 graduating students in Trujillo. Each of them is making a great contribution in the church despite the limitations we have due to the COVID 19 pandemic that is sweeping the world. In November, I made a mission trip to the south of Peru (cities of Puno and Ayaviri), where there are two new churches, which I am attending in my free time while the restrictions of the pandemic last. Also, I am checking on the church in the north of Peru (Villa San Isidro). This church was planted by the efforts of students from the school and held its first worship service on September 19, 2021. It is about two hours by bus from Trujillo. Two of the students from the school in Trujillo help with the work by preaching and teaching there every Sunday.

Second, on December 11, 2021, in the building of the church of Christ in Santo Domingo, Lima, we held the graduation ceremony with an attendance of 50 people between adults and children. Four students received their Associate Diploma in Biblical Studies, as well as 4 books: “Compendium Manual Portavoz.” Church elders were charged with preaching and introducing graduates. At the end, we had a special dinner in honor of the graduates. There were 4 new congregations established by the graduates during their training. The graduates had 0 baptisms and 24 restorations in the past 12 months.

Third, on December 18, 2021, in the new building of the church of Christ in El Porvenir, Trujillo, Peru, we held the graduation ceremony with an attendance of 80 people and 20 children. Ten students received their Associate Diploma in Biblical Studies after successfully completing the two years of study. Also, a book was given to each one: “Illustrated Theological Dictionary.” It will serve as an aid for their studies onward. At the end, we had a special dinner in honor of the graduates. There were 16 new congregations established by the graduates during their training. The graduates in Trujillo had 11 baptisms and 16 restorations in the past 12 months.
